A Roman Centurion who was assigned to escort Paul and some other prisoners on the voyage from Caesarea to Rome. "Julius treated Paul kindly, and gave him leave to go to his friends and be cared for" (Acts 27:3). When a storm wrecked the ship off the island of Malta, Julius dissuaded the soldiers from killing the prisoners, lest they escape. Eventually Paul made it to Rome, and Julius is not mentioned again in the Bible.
