Davids wife Michal helped him to escape from being murdered by her father, King Saul. Saul when finding out about this gave his daughter to another man named Palti. After Saul died, Abner who was the commander of Sauls army made peace with David. David did make peace on the condition his wife, Michal was returned to him. She was taken from Palti, who followed behind, "weeping after her" (2 samuel 3:16). Palti means "my deliverence."
