Potiphera was Joseph's father-in-law. After Joseph interpreted the Pharoah's dreams, he was given in marriage, Asenath, the daughter of Potiphera, priest of Heliopolis (Genesis 41:45). Potiphera would be the grandfather of Joseph's two sons, Manasseh and Ephraim. Potiphera means "he whom Ra has given."
