Maakah, wife of Jeiel

Maakah was the wife of Jeiel, who lived in Gibeon.

There are several people - women and men - in the Bible with the name of Maakah. This Maakah is mentioned by name in 1 Chronicles 8:29 and 1 Chronicles 9:35.

"Jeiel the father of Gibeon lived in Gibeon. His wife's name was Maakah, and his firstborn son was Abdon, followed by Zur, Kish, Baal, Ner, Nadab, Gedor, Ahio, Zeker and Mikloth, who was the father of Shimeah. They too lived near their relatives in Jerusalem" (1 Chronicles 8:29-32, NIV).

The text doesn't say explicitly that Maakah gave birth to these children, but no other wife is mentioned for Jeiel.

Ner was the grandfather of Saul, the first King of Israel, which would mean that Maakah was the great-grandmother of King Saul.

Next person in the Bible: Machir
