The Euphrates River is one of one of the four rivers in the Garden of Eden (Gen 1:4).

It runs parallel to the Tigris River and extends from present day Turkey, through Syria and Iraq, and into the Persian Gulf.

The long stretch of land between the two rivers is Mesopotamia.
