There were two women in the Old Testament of the Bible named Abigail who are associated with King David. One was a wife of David's and the other was his sister.

The Abigail who was David's sister is mentioned in 1 Chronicles 2:13-17, where we are told that she had a son named Amasa.

This Abigail and David had the same mother and a different father. Abigail's father was Zeruiah Nahash. Abigail married Jether, who also was known as Ithra. They had a son named Amasa who became a leader in David's army (2 Samuel 17:25; 1 Chronicles 2:16, 17) but was killed by his cousin, Joab.
