Ur is the name of the place where Abraham was living before God spoke to him, telling him to leave Ur and to go to the land of Canaan, which later would become known as Israel. Ur is mentioned by name four times in the Bible, specifically as "Ur of the Chaldeans," and each time in reference to Abraham or to a member of his family.

The Bible's first mention of Ur occurs in Genesis 11:28, where we learn that Abraham's brother, Haran, had died in Ur, which was also Haran's birthplace. Ur is located in modern day Iraq and is the site of important archaeological finds.

Ur appears in 4 Bible verses: Gen 11:28, Gen 11:31, Gen 15:7 and Neh 9:7.
